Can I update channel list and then remove USB?

Hi there, i'm pretty new to all of this. I've been looking into getting a Skybox f5s, however I can't use an Ethernet cable to connect it to my router. So i'd have to use a wifi dongle, however after researching it seems I can't use a USB splitter/hub as the Skybox can't handle it. So the main questions is would I be able to buy the line/gift, and then update the channel list with my usb, and then remove the USB stick in order to plug in my wifi dongle?
