USB tuner for Venton

Hi,

got a Venton Unibox HD Eco+ and I'd like to add an extra tuner via the USB port.

Could anybody let me know which ones tend to work with this box? as I don't want to buy something only for it to end up not being compatible.

Hi

it hurts me to post this and take up peoples time but ive read like 9 billion posts and their not for dummies, which i am :D, last yr i bought this box from ebay with all the channels for 12 months installed on it and it no longer works, ive decided to try do it myself with no joy, i have taken the cable from my sky box and plugged in the ethernet cable, i updated the list from another recent thread i read and did the update by usb on the system, my freeview channels work but the rest saying scrambled and im due to throw it in the bin, Hoping someone can help me fix what im doing wrong, i can see the channels eg like comedy central 4.00pm friends up next 4.30 friends so its getting some kinda signal but no picture

Hi thought i would give a small introduction to the forum members , i am an old school hacker from the uk looking to expand my knowledge within the tech side of things would like to learn about box's and the systems used I'm looking to contribute within this community once i know my way around the systems how they work and have more knowledge on them that's all i can really say at the moment so c'yall around

Adding ROI sports on Vix

Hi
This is the way i have added the ROI Sports until a proper fix is released

Menu ,Setup ,Service Searching, AutoBouquetsMaker, Hide Sections ,tick all ROI channels near the bottom except sports ,press green to save
Providers ,Sky ROI Custom should be yes, Sky ROI generate sections bouquets change to yes ,click green, exit, start scan in ABM
Exit
Menu, setup, System ,EPG ,CrossEPG , Download Now
Restart
The new ROI Sports should be near the bottom of the bouquet after FTA Channels

How do I replace my Main USB Stick with a bigger one

Flashed and configured Wooshbuild with no problems. Great instructions and it is working just fine.
I used an 8GB Flash for my Main USB Stick. Too small, I want to replace it with a 500GB external drive.
Do I need to pickup from Step 2 of the instructions and go through all the configuration again, or is there a straightforward initialise/reload.

Help and advice please.

Good evening,

I've had my box for over a year now and its been great. It arrived with OpenVix Apollo 022 and it's worked pretty much flawlessly. However, this week I was having some issues which turned out to be network issues. I thought they were box issues and I mistakenly did a factory reset and it removed my image from the system. When I bought the box it came with an 8gb USB which I am assuming had the software on it. However when I tried to restore the image it did not exist on the USB.

Now I have a very basi and poor image indeed and I don't like it so I am doing my research to try and get back to where I was. The image I have doesn't even have the CCcam on it.

I've looked at a few sites and I have a 512mb USB stick that I have been putting a cloudix and xpeedlx folders on to and when I plug into the back and switch power on the box doesn't appear to grab the files from the USB.

I've no idea what a bootloader is either?

Any help for a newbie would be most appreciated.

It looks as though my bootloader is old and outof date it says 3.12.

How do you upgrade the bootloader?

Zgemma h2 un-watchable while using internet

hi guys, was just wondering if this was normal, the box works perfect, has minimal freezing every now and then which i can live with, but if internet is being used on phone or laptop, the box is unwatchable, is that normal or is there something wrong, the box is wired, it is connected to cable not satellite if that changes anything, im using a splitter from wall to box and superhub, with ethernet cable going to my zgemma box. my internet is VIVID 150 optical fibre.

Ive noticed that my epg listings for the channel programs have stopped working i am just getting parts of information on my zgemma h2s box using wooshbuild wondering do i need to do a scan or update something to get it all working again.

Overall opinion of Openvix and OpenATV

To start with, all credits go to Dsayers for making these lovely backups and allowing me to test both to see what each one is like.

I want to share my opinion on what the advantages and disadvantages are on the H.2H.

Openvix:

Pros -

The setup is a lot simpler and easier to follow when you navigate on the menu
More customisation available (i.e. channel hack numbers and there must be more)
Runs fairly smooth (with the use of swapfile manager)

Cons -

You cannot update it from the box as it's a patched image so you would have to download it from a site in order to get to a newer/older version.



For openATV i had to re-inititalise my USB as it wasn't creating a swapfile from moving from OpenVix to OpenATV. So i formatted to FAT32 and initiailised to the max storage use it had available. (Seemed to be more than Vix at around 2GB but i don't know if this matters)

OpenATV:

Pros -

It's a lot more stable and faster after creating swap file manager using the info panel.
You have the ability to update from the box when bugs and new features are available.
It seems to run a little faster throughout the gui or it might just be my eyes. (Impressed with the speed in comparison to OpenVix when staying on channels for a while then navigating to the channel selection menu)

Cons -

The setup menu is ugly (softcam manager is a lot uglier compared to the vix one but as if i'm gonna be stayin on that for a day)
You can't add a black border behind subtitles (i've tried and with vix it could be done through the subtitle settings)



Note: I have only tested this for a day so more will be added in the future as time goes by.
