Noob Trying to learn a bit of tech here

Hello to all. As the title indicates I'm here learn and understand more about satellite boxes, Ive got a skybox f3 and m3. Problem is my TV doesn't detect the hdmi signal from them. I generally like to do things my self rather then pay someone to fix it. that why i learn more and if it happens again i can fix it my self. I found a very useful thread that could solve my problem so fingers crossed. hope to learn a lot here.
